How to find out how a handgun will perform in a stressful situation

I’m joined by Claude Werner, the Tactical Professor, in this podcast. Claude is a firearms researcher, analyst and trainer who specializes in analyzing use of force incidents and firearms usage. We discuss how to compare firearms using testing protocols and how to find out which one will perform best for you.

Experience can often be one of the best ways of learning, and Claude certainly has that experience. He trained at the elite Rodgers Shooting School and has done extensive research on how handguns perform in stressful situations. You can evaluate a particular handgun using different drills, different targets and different ammo selections.

For example, using one target with six dots, three on each side arranged vertically, you can utilize almost a box of ammo and also determine how well your firearm will perform, including shooting from the compressed ready, shooting from low ready, and shooting from the draw from the holster.

Everyone has finite resources that they can use for training, and Claude emphasizes using those resources in the most efficient way possible.
